Sorry for the delay folks, but here's some pics from the farewell party for Scott, Joe, and Brenda last week at the Daily Grill.
Even though it's nice to see everyone together, and we're grateful for the reminder that good people aren't diminished by bad times, posting pictures and stories about layoffs is getting pretty exhausting. When you reflect on just how much the newsroom has changed in under a year, the difference is absolutely shocking.
Here's someone else affected by MediaNews' decision, Scott's son.
Best wishes on your future success guys.

Take a good look Rich ! or Dean!
I hope that retreat was worth it. They are real people !!! not a number, I hope you see the face of Scott's boy the next time ( if there is one ) on the ranch retreat, on the zip line, playing the trust game with your minions and biting into that BBQ beef sandwich.
Who has a photo himself with Lean Dean the butcher of journalism?
Shame! on you.
Thanks so much for the photos. I wanted to be there, but was with my girls. Although I love my teaching gig, the photos remind me of how much I miss everybody. -- Joe Stevens
Who is Rich ?
LA Times honchos have fallen on their swords because they care about journalism, and about people.
No such gestures from Press-Telegram bigwigs. Instead, there are Lines about being alone with one reporter and photog. There is continued protection of a columnist whose salary could save multiple staffers if it were taken off the books. There is "leadership" that has lost the respect of every single working journalist in the newsroom.
Rich Archbold, do the right thing. Resign. Haven't you done enough?
Hey Scott, hope this helps...

People say that it's not upper management's fault, but everyone has a role. Rich chose survival over integrity.
Jason, Felix, Wendy, Don, Jenny, Keith, Eric, Sam, A.K., and many others took action.
Yes it is what you love and it's a rare thing to say that you do what you love.
Love don't pay the rent or feed your kid.
There is life after the Press-Telegram.
"Love don't pay the rent or feed your kid," is the kind of a statement that a content provider would say.
I hear Mean Dean Singleton will be in town on the 23rd with more bad news.... does the Union even know about this? I hear his axe has been sharpened!
I wonder if he has a ramp in his Jet, for his scooter. He's the Stephen J Hawking of Journalism, minus the intelligence.
LANG Memo.... no more raises.... LA Observed has it but I guess this website has waved the white flag.
two percent raise and 12 months no layoffs.... whats the catch and is there backpay?
