Thanks to CWA 9400 president Micheal Hartigan for sending a link to this video from the BANG folks, celebrating their victory and discussing just what they think it means for the future or journalism in Northern California.
It just goes to show what can be done when we unite for a common goal.

Hey, I'm happy for NorCal. Now, after Hartigan and his union people are done celebrating, what are the chances they will turn their attention to SoCal. If I were to wager, I would say slim to none.
Sorry, but that's the reputation this union has.
Micheal Hartigan does not unionize workers. CWA does not pick up MediaNews by its jowels and say, "Here's the deal: All of your papers are now unionized."
Unionization efforts begin with the workers at the non-union site. They must get in touch with the CWA, and we'll advise you on how to proceed.
The anger is definitely there. But, that doesn't always translate to a will to unionize. If coworkers are not getting along, that undermines the organizing effort. It has to be something all workers are willing to support.
Signed,
A CWAer
